Our program prepares graduates for employment in the band instrument repair trade. Students receive instruction in repair, maintenance, and adjustment of instruments focusing on woodwind, brass, strings, and percussion. Students will receive training in skills which make the students desirable by employers for the repair of these instruments.
Graduates of CIOMIT will be prepared to interact with customers to determine the issues they are having with their instrument, and offer recommendations and course of action for resolution. Students’ ability in trouble shooting and problem solving for logical conclusions and outcomes will be a focus of customer service beyond the technical side of repair.
Shop operations including time management, parts and inventory control and acquisition, shop set up and work flow, will also be taught to give the student the abilities needed to operate a self sustaining shop or manage a shop for an employer.
